CITRUS ENGINE: a cross platform app development engine for iOS & Android, PC & Mac
iOS apps: iPhone / iPad / iPod
Android apps: Smartphones / Tablets
What is the Citrus Engine?
The Citrus Engine is our in-house tool for building high-quality mobile apps.
Why did we make the Citrus Engine?
We made the Citrus Engine to help us make lots of great apps. We made the Citrus Engine to deliver great work for clients. This is just the beginning. Further announcements about this innovative technology will follow.
Can other developers license the Citrus Engine to make apps?
At the moment the Citrus Engine is an internal tool only. Feel free to drop us a line to discuss our technology… projects@CitrusSuite.com
What are the client benefits?
Better apps, less cost.
Our clients don’t have to pay for us to build all their required app functions from scratch.
In essence a client’s £10k app will have had £70k – £80k worth of work on it before the project starts. The Citrus Engine is flexible enough to deliver dramatically varied apps and is easily customisable when making apps. This gives us a great competitive advantage and enables us to win 90% of the tangible* projects we quote for.
How good is the Citrus Engine?
We believe the Citrus Engine is better than other commercially available engines.
Unlike commercial ‘cross platform compilers’ such as Phone Gap, Appcelerator Titanium and others the Citrus Engine builds native apps (not mobile websites). We can access each device’s native features and functionality (navigation, user input, orientation, geolocation, media, etc.) delivering a better user experience. This proprietary technology is the first glimpse of our R&D work.
What apps can the Citrus Engine make?
The Citrus Engine supports the creation of almost any app (or is at least a great starting point for development). See below for more information.

Does the client own the source code at the end of the project?
If the client requires ownership of source code we often build the project from scratch (ie without Citrus Engine components).
What if potential customer requests an app with functionality not covered by the features set out above?
We always evaluate development on a project by project basis. If a bespoke approach would suit or is preferred we are always happy to discuss specific requirements.
How much does it cost to make an app?
It’s hard to give a price without knowing what the app is, what functions it would require, etc. We can give a proper quote once we find out what a client needs.
